Siberian Husky

Few dogs can best the Siberian Husky when it comes to stamina. Bred to pull sleds in the tough arctic regions, he can work all day with ease. Outside of his job as a sled dog, Siberian Huskies are friendly and playful to all people. He is not a good watchdog, because he loves everyone. He would probably make friends with a burglar and help him carry your possessions away if the burglar asked nicely.

The Siberian Husky is highly social and needs to interact with people. They also enjoy the company of other dogs. However, they are still close to their predator roots and require socialization with smaller animals with which you want them to become friendly. He needs to be taught that the cat is not prey.

This breed requires strenuous exercise on a daily basis. A short walk around the block is not sufficient for a dog bred to travel hundreds of miles while pulling a sled through the bitter cold. A bike is a great way to exercise a Siberian Husky without wearing yourself to a frazzle. They will rid themselves of excess energy quicker at a jog than a walk.

The intelligence and easy-going nature of this dog makes him a joy to train. The Siberian Husky is agile and a great candidate for agility training.

Regular brushing is required to keep the coat looking great. You need to brush this breed at least once per week. Huskies have a double coat but it is not too long. The coat should not be so long as to disguise the lines of the body. Siberian Huskies come in any color or pattern. This is a medium-sized dog whose height is between 20 and 23 inches. The weight is 35 to 60 pounds. The eyes are often the most striking feature of this breed. They can be amber, brown, light blue or dark blue. Each eye may be a different color or a single eye might even contain both blue and brown.

The Siberian Husky can live to 12 to 15 years. The few health problems that seem to strike the Siberian Husky are related to those beautiful eyes.
